It is a simple equation

whether to grieve.

Count the days.

Number the pain.

Measure the volume

between your legs

and its viscosity.

There is a reason to wait to tell.

Such a mundane loss.

They would not know

under the seams

my knots are tied,

the miscalculations

hidden in the fold.
