Day 21 b

Today's prompt was to create a homophonic translation of a poem in a foreign language that you do not speak. I chose this poem from Ida Börjel.


AFTER LEMONADE


or else, or else,

a garden overgrown⁠—

after lemonade and a tiny minute,

I find I’m alive.

the barren left gloved hand

fingers the hyacinth

with some intent. some, intent,

with answers ungiven,

come lacking wants,

come with their milk hearts,

all loss. Taste, taste hyacinth

and first buds, that slept under sun,

idle and innocent. at once

I live an almost red,

unbroken, and soft lit.
